Staff Templates Userboxes Manual of Style

The Manual of Style is a page written to help you, the reader, put together an article that is as consistent as possible with other articles.

The MediaTabs Templates

On every article except for the Stories articles, there must be a single "MediaTabs" template at the first line.

However, you must place the appropriate MediaTabs template on the page.

There are multiple, such as:

  • {{MediaTabs}}, which should only be used in the case of the article having both Gallery and Audio subpages;
  • {{MediaTabs2}}, which should only be used in the case of the article having only a Gallery subpage;
  • {{MediaTabs3}}, which should only be used in the case of the article having only an Audio subpage;
  • and finally, {{MediaTabs4}}, which should only be used in the case of the article having no subpages.

For documentation on how to create subpages, click here.

Headers

If appropriate, the page should have a header or multiple.

Here is a complete list of headers and their usage:

  • {{Update}}, placed on an article page if some, most, or all of the information is outdated.
  • {{Stub}}, placed on an article page if it is too short or lacks detail.
  • {{Speculation}}, placed on an article page if it contains speculative information.
  • {{Cleanup}}, placed on a page if it is messy past the point of readability.
  • {{Conjecture}}, placed on an article page if the article's name is conjectural.
  • {{Delete}}, placed on a page if it is unnecessary.
  • {{Needcontent}}, placed on a page if the article or subpage is missing needed content (such as information on certain things, photos, or sounds).
  • {{Needs Protection}}, placed on a page if it satisfies one, two, or all of the following reasons:
    1. Prevention of vandalism
    2. High traffic (frequent visitors)
    3. No more info needs to be added to the page
  • {{Move}}, placed on a page if it should be renamed.
  • {{Picture}}, placed on a page if it requires an image.
  • {{Upcoming Content}}, placed on a page if it details a future concept with not all details revealed.

Quotes

When possible, there should always be a quote at the beginning of the article, after the MediaTabs template.

This quote can be a describing quote from one of the stories, or perhaps a quote said by the character themselves.

This would be done in the following format using the {{Cquote}} template:

{{Cquote|quote would go here|source, with citation if possible}}

Infoboxes

Infoboxes are templates that should only be used for articles about characters and locations.

Infoboxes are to be created by an admin but can be placed on the page by anyone.

  • Each infobox should have a simple, short name, usually an abbreviation followed by "Infobox". For example, the Donald Duck infobox is titled simply "DD Infobox", which stands for "Donald Duck Infobox".
  • Each infobox should be consistent in design and a picture should be supplied if available.
    • Should no image be available, the simple alternative would be to use instead File:Unknown.png.

Descriptions

Describing a character

When describing a character, it should be done with the initial paragraph giving a short background of the character before moving on to specifics.

The basic structure would simply be:

(opening paragraph)
==Description==
===Appearance===
(paragraph describing appearance)

===Behavior===
(paragraph describing general in-game behavior)

===Locations===
(paragraph describing locations passed in gameplay)

==Bugs==
(bulleted list of in-game glitches or modeling errors)

==Trivia==
(bulleted list of relevant uncommon knowledge)

One such example would be Photo-Negative Mickey.

Describing a location

When describing a location, there should be 1-2 opening paragraphs giving a general description of the location and a bugs and/or trivia section.

The basic structure would be:

(opening 1-2 paragraphs)
==Suits==
(the suits that go through this location)

==Bugs==
(bulleted list of in-game glitches or modeling errors)

==Trivia==
(bulleted list of relevant uncommon knowledge)

Images

People like to see a visual representation of an article. As such, there should be 1 picture maximum per article.

All other relevant images, if available, should go into the Gallery subpage.

Footer

At the very end of the article, there should be a navigation template for the general category the article falls into. This would apply to all other articles in the same category.

  • For Characters articles, there would be the {{Characters}} template.
  • For Locations articles, there would be the {{Locations}} template.
  • For Stories and Games, there would be the {{Franchise}} template.
  • For Mechanics, there would be the {{Mechanics}} template.

Subpages

Many pages have a Gallery and/or Audio subpage.

  • If photos exist for the character, location, or mechanic, the photos would go into the Gallery subpage;
  • If sounds exist for the character, location, or mechanic, the sounds would go into the Audio subpage.

Subpages are created very simply; just go to Special:CreatePage and type the exact page name, followed by "/Gallery" or "/Audio" appropriately. For example, the Goofy page has a Goofy/Gallery subpage and a Goofy/Audio subpage.

The subpages created should keep consistent with the MediaTabs template placed on the article.
